Behnam Bani is the voice of a nation, but it wasn’t always that way. Before he began his career in world music, did you know that he was actually an engineer? Yup, before he sang hits like “Khoshhalam,” and “Ashegham Karde,” he worked as a full time civil engineer. That isn’t to say that he only recently became musical; Behnam Bani has always loved and appreciated the arts, and his voice is certainly not one you could develop overnight. See for yourself when he comes to Washington DC for a very special show at the DAR Constitution Hall. Don't miss it!
Iranian singer Behnam Bani is a man of many influences. His music is most often described as being within the vague and vast genre of “world music,” an umbrella term for music from outside of the Western world, but his style can be related to many more specific areas of interest. His music is mostly composed of notes and motifs hailing from Iranian folk music as well as classical Persian music. He also specifically cites Mohammed Nouri as being one of his biggest influences musically.
A little known fact about him is that Behnam Bani actually studied under Mohammed Nouri in his early years as a musician, leading to the former developing a style reminiscent of the latter. Regardless of where or how he coveted his own personal style, Behnam Bani is now a household name in Iran in his own right. And now, he’s coming straight to Washington DC for an extra special performance. You can’t miss it! Get tickets to the show at the DAR Constitution Hall right now!
